Cradle: Great World, Great System, Fewer Laughs
This was on my want-to-try list for a while and it absolutely earned the spot. Will Wight's cultivation world is the real draw — the sacred arts, the ranks, the whole structure of how people get stronger and what it costs them.
The power system is the star
I love the world and I love the power system. It's got that same thing the best progression fantasy has, where the rules are tight enough that you can actually feel the gap between where someone is and where they need to be. Watching that gap close is the whole point, and Cradle nails it.
Where it sits against DCC
It's up there with Dungeon Crawler Carl for me — which is high praise, since DCC is my 10. Where it doesn't quite hit the same mark is humor. Cradle plays things a lot more serious, and I missed the constant chaos and the Donut of it all. Different vibe, not a worse one, just not the thing I go to DCC for.
8.7/10. Easy recommend if you want progression fantasy that takes its own world seriously.
