The Gray Man: My Favorite Assassin Series
Complete left turn from most of what's on this site — no stat sheets, no magic systems, no dungeon. Just Court Gentry, a former CIA asset who's very good at a very specific job, getting hunted across the planet by people who should probably know better.
My favorite action series, full stop
This is the one I'd point to as my favorite action/assassin series. Greaney writes the kind of competence porn that just works — Gentry is outnumbered basically always, and watching him think his way out is the entire appeal. The action is grounded and mean, and it never slows down long enough to get boring.
[How much do I like it] Enough that I've used dahgreyman as my handle in games for years. That's the actual review right there.
8.3/10. If you want a break from progression fantasy without dropping the "one guy against impossible odds" thing that makes it good, this is the one.
