Honorable Mentions: The Dark Tower & Super Powereds
Two series that really hit me even though they aren't my usual LitRPG fare. Figured they deserved a mention.
The Dark Tower — Stephen King (8/10)
This series is a beast — a mix of dark fantasy, western, and horror, which isn't the usual lane I travel down, but damn if it didn't stick with me. Roland the gunslinger is on this wild quest that feels bigger than life itself. The atmosphere is nothing short of haunting, and the scope is epic in every sense of the word. It's the kind of series that gets under your skin — you find yourself thinking about it long after you've put it down.
Super Powereds — Drew Hayes (7.5/10)
Another curveball — a superhero series set at a university with a Hero Certification Program. The twist: it's about a group of "Powereds," people with superpowers they can't control, basically the underdogs compared to the "Supers" who have their powers all figured out. What makes this one shine is the found-family vibe and the college dynamic. The Powereds get a secret chance to fix their control and try to pass as Supers, and the whole premise of hiding that secret from their classmates is just plain fun.
